For the eve of my divorce from Jerry (aka GRE) - hopefully!
I smile looking back at the past couple weeks because I know I’m back in the study grind when I’m:
sporadically posting on tumblr
picking up the guitar as a break and learning new songs
eating Chester’s Hot Fries with Arizona Sweet Tea/Green Tea
making a mess of my notebook paper with highlighter vomit and food stains
rediscovering music that holds a special place in my heart (praise music, 90’s old school jams, Jason Mraz & Mariah Carey Pandora, Christmas songs have been my study soundtrack)
somehow managing to catch up on series that have long since dropped out of my life and reconnecting with the characters lol (I’ve managed to watch almost half of season 6 and 7 of Grey’s).
to name a few habits….haha.
I definitely miss the student lifestyle of studying and learning.
However, I do not like carrying on this lifestyle trying to squeeze it into the few free hours I have when not working full time. I’m tired all the time..and when I make the smallest attempts at staying up at night (a far cry from an all-nighter), I struggle to keep up with work the day after. Big props to the parents out there working full time and going to school!
I think what makes it harder is that GRE hardly is about content/knowledge or skill…but rather figuring out how to take the GRE test itself. Nothing more. I’m trying my best to turn it into a game of conquering the GRE, “slaying the GRE beast,” to boost my morale. Hoping the time I put in will mean something!
I’m in a strange place right now of wanting to look at everything I possibly can and turning my brain off as I know I can’t really cram/internalize much more at this point.
Luckily, I get the day off tomorrow, and I plan to take it nice and easy. Think my day will consist of:
QT with Bender my Fender :D
Play Christmas music (always an instant mood booster for me no matter the time of the year)
Maybe more Grey’s haha or leisure reading
Looking over math formulas/vocab (maybe might go to Pt. Isabella dog park and review while enjoying the nice view/weather)
Then bright and early Friday morning to head to Prometrix! Game time at 8am!
We get a preview of our score the instant we finish, which is a bit nervewracking. Can’t exactly retake the test until at least 60 days after, so I wouldn’t have minded waiting a few days haha. But I’m definitely going in with the mindset that this will be the first and last. Really praying that once will be enough!
Tumblr world, if you have time to spare, I could really use prayers Friday at 8am!! Thanks so much!!! <3
“One of the most amazing things that can happen is finding someone who sees everything you are and won’t let you be anything less. They see the potential of you. They see endless possibilities. And through their eyes, you start to see yourself the same way. As someone who matters. As someone who can make a difference in this world.”—Susane Colasanti (via onlinecounsellingcollege)
“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.”—Bob Marley
“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And babe, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up because if you give up, you’ll never find your soul mate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.”—Marilyn Monroe
“If you were to press your heart close up against somebody else’s heart eventually your hearts will start beating at the same time. And two little babies in an incubator, their hearts will beat at the same time. Love that. So if you have somebody in your life that is prone to anxiety, like myself,…
Surveyed couples who stayed together 10+ years…some interesting findings haha.
While I probably can be considered one of the students who hasn’t ”matured enough to know themselves, much less what they want out of a romantic partner,” I think where I am in my life has brought me to understand that some of the greatest bonds I’ve witnessed didn’t grow alone from the much coveted four letter word but a Three Letter Name!
Just trusting that He will provide in His own time :]
P.S. But I guess whoever I end up with in the long haul should jump outta a plane with me to reinforce our dopamine circuits and need for self-expansion lol
A memoir written by a 13 year old about his dog, Peanut:
Dogs are not just Man’s Best Friend. They are more. Like family they love you and take care of you and protect you. And you treat him just the same. A dog waits by the doors and windows to greet you once you get home. A dog is a stress, sorrow, pain and sadness reliever. A dog makes you feel happy when you’re sad. Unlike humans, dogs are always there for you. Even if they could speak they would ask for nothing in return but love.
